Ramesh Kamath (President)

Ramesh is a very active member of the Konkani community in the Bay Area of California. He served as president of KAOCA in 1995 and was in the executive team for the 2008 Konkani Sammelan in Northern California. He is an active volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northern California and a recipient of numerous awards for his contributions in raising an equivalent of one million pounds of food in six plus years of leading the Food and Fund Drive in Santa Clara, CA. He volunteers for a NGO, India Literacy Project (ILP) whose main mission is to help the under privileged women and kids get basic functional literacy.

Ramesh works as Director of Software Engineering at Sophos in Santa Clara, CA. He lives with his wife Abirami and two daughters, Nivya, a Junior at San Jose State and Tanvi, an 8th grader at Hyde Middle School.

He is passionate about running and hiking long distances. He has run over 15 full marathons and has hiked Mount Whitney and rim-2-rim at Grand Canyon.

Ajay Rao (Vice President)

Ajay was the President of Ontario Konkani Association (OKA) with his wife Chitra in 2014-15, having previously served as Treasurer/Secretary and VP. Under their leadership, the Association made significant progress in moving with the times - successfully blending the old with the new. They ensured that entertainment was supplemented with cultural content, in the well-attended programs put up by the Executive Committee. The highlight of their term was the transformation of the newsletter, the eSamachar, to a content rich glossy magazine, which was much appreciated by the readership.

Ajay is a CFO with a North American group headquartered in Canada. Chitra is a microbiologist, son Amol is an Environmental Engineer, and daughter Dipti is also a CA. Ajay was on the Board of the Toronto Chapter of Indian CAs, and is an active member of Finance Executives International (FEI).

The Raos lived in Mauritius and South Africa (after leaving India in the late 80s) before migrating to Canada in the early 2000s.

Ajay is passionate about change management, governance, and providing thought leadership in a transparent and collaborative manner. He is committed to doing his bit for the community by leveraging his skills and competencies.

Damodar Baliga (Treasurer)

Damodar Baliga came to the States in 1970, together with his wife Shobha and settled down in Queens, NY. He is a Chartered Accountant from India and did his MBA in accounting and finance. He has worked as the Controller for a few privately held companies in New York. In 2013, LabCorp acquired his employer and closed down the facility in Brooklyn. Presently he volunteers as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for a non-profit health care center in Brooklyn, NY.

Damo is a founding member of Konkani Sabha and along with others and the Saraswat Foundation, organized the first Konkani Sammelan in NY/NJ. The organizers realized the need to have a national organization and he worked on forming NAKA and getting IRS approval for NAKA as a not-for-profit cultural organization.

Sudha Shenoy (Secretary)

Sudha and her husband Suresh Shenoy are current residents of Johns Creek, Georgia. Sudha is an actuary by profession and is currently consulting for a major health organization. She moved to North America from Mangalore and has lived in Florida, New York and Connecticut before moving to Atlanta.

Sudha has been active in the Georgia Konkani community, served as Treasurer of KAOG (Konkani Association of Georgia), and is currently on the 2016 Konkani Sammelan Executive & Entertainment Committees. She has served as an Executive Board Member & Treasurer of The Connecticut Food Bank. She was elected to the Board of the Society of Actuaries, also a non-profit organization and recently completed her three year Board term. Sudha’s interests include travel, music and personal development. She is now looking forward to serving our Konkani community.

Pramod Mavinkurve (Executive Board Member)

-- Masters in Material Science from University of Rochester, Rochester NY
-- bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli, Maharashtra
-- Johnson & Johnson retired as Principal research Fellow after 32 years of service.

Married to Geeta Mavinkurve (nee Mirjankar) for 46 yrs, two children, two grandchildren. Lives in Langhorne PA
